What exactly does the "100% of profits" promise mean?
It means every single dollar of profit generated from your purchase of the Haven Bracelet (after the cost of materials, overhead, and shipping) is directed entirely to cat aid. This includes paying vet bills for cats, and purchasing and supplying food and heated shelters for cat colony caretakers. None of us are paid for our time. Our commitment is to ensure your compassion is immediately being turned into action.
How can I be sure my money is actually helping cats?
What should I do if I find a stray cat?
If you find a stray cat, your safety and the cat's safety come first. Here are immediate steps you can take to help:
1. Safety Check: Check if the cat is injured, and approach slowly and quietly. If you suspect it's feral (unhandleable), do not attempt to touch it.
2. Look for Identification: Check for a collar, ID tag, or a microchip (a vet or shelter can scan it for free).
3. Local Resources: Contact your local animal shelter, humane society, or local TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) organization. They have resources for trapping, medical help, and finding owners.
4. Offer Essentials: If you can do so safely, leave out fresh water and food (like a small bowl left by The Midnight Bowl!). If the weather is cold, a waterproof storage tote lined with straw can offer temporary shelter.
How can I support The Midnight Bowl's initiatives?
There are many ways to be compassionate.
1. Shop the Haven Bracelet: This is the most direct way! 100% of the profits fund all our cat aid efforts (vet bills, food, shelter).
2. Spread the Word: Follow, share, and engage with us on social media. Your follows and shares help us reach more compassionate people.
3. Donate Supplies: We occasionally organize local supply drives or trades for food and shelters. Keep an eye on our local social media pages, or contact us directly, for ways to donate supplies directly.
Why aren't you a 501(c)(3)?
The Midnight Bowl is not currently a registered 501(c)(3) by choice because it began as a small, personal passion project funded organically through bracelet sales and community support. While many 501(c)(3) organizations often pay their staff a salary, this project operates differently. We believe nonprofit employees deserve salaries for the compassionate work that they do. It is also necessary because it allows people to make helping animals and others their full-time life's work.
I have a full-time job and do not need to draw a salary, but I can't fund this alone, so all profits go directly toward helping cats and the people who care for them. We deeply respect and often support 501(c)(3) organizations. Our hope is simply to complement their work by helping the helpers in a different way.
